My Story

Born and raised in Harlem, New York, Darrel Medford’s entrepreneurial journey began alongside his identical twin brother, Jeffrey Medford. As children, they packed bags from morning to night in neighborhood supermarkets, learning the hustle that would shape their lives. In their teens, they owned and operated Harlem’s largest newsstand, turning a forgotten corner into a thriving neighborhood staple. Darrel worked in local dry cleaners, mastering skills like pressing shirts that still serve him today. After high school, he served ten honorable years in the United States Marine Corps, where discipline and leadership became core values. He later carved out a successful career as a graphic designer, freelancing for every major ad agency in New York City. Now rooted in New Orleans, Darrel has woven every chapter of his journey into multiple thriving ventures. Celebration Designs is a creative branding company offering custom apparel, website design, business promotions, and marketing solutions. The NOLA Soul Food Tour is a full-sensory experience that celebrates the city’s culture, music, food, and soul—introducing visitors to local history, hidden gems, and unforgettable flavors. In his latest venture, Darrel produced and directed the NOLA Soul Food Channel, a digital series spotlighting local chefs, their cooking styles, personal stories, and behind-the-scenes moments in the kitchen—honoring the artistry and passion of New Orleans cuisine. Darrel is also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His personal values of love, loyalty, and resilience echo throughout every part of his work. He doesn’t just run businesses—he creates legacy. His life is a masterclass in turning grit into greatness, and every tour, design, or episode he delivers is proof that purpose, passion, and a whole lot of hustle can change lives.
